Our coaches use an online platform called TrainingPeaks which syncs with an athlete's GPS watch to monitor and co-ordinate remote training. Fitness and stress data collected through an athlete's GPS watch is made available for analysis through the TrainingPeaks platform for on-going assessment and training adjustments.

Monitoring of an athlete's pacing, heart rate, cadence and power zones

What our Athletes have to say
Ann is such an inspirational coach who uses her own experience as an elite athlete but is able to adapt her approach and coaching plan to meet her individual athletes exactly where they are and guide them to where she believes they can go. Ann has the added benefit of being extremely versatile, knowing how to create a coaching plan for any running goal. This is evidenced by how Ann took me from a very average social runner and coached me to finishing second in my first trail 100 miler race, to taking 20 minutes off my road marathon PB and over an hour off my trail ultra PB, and then finishing my first Comrades marathon in my goal time (8:02). All this while understanding my need to balance my running aspirations with a full time job and family commitments, just as she has done in her career.
I started working with David at the beginning of November 2022, shortly after I ran my 3rd Cape Town marathon and shortly prior to that the Berlin marathon. At the time I thought I needed some guidance in my training and preparation for races. David’s programs have given me good focus, they have been varied and have worked well for me. I felt a lot better running the Two Oceans Ultra this year, which I attribute to David’s program. The program has already shifted focus to Berlin and Cape Town marathons 2023, and despite carrying a slight injury at the moment I already feel more confident for those runs. Thank you for the programs David, and for monitoring progress.
I work full-time as a professional and have limited time to train during the week. By following David's structured program I have improved my Comrades time from 9:48 to 6:57 and have run consecutive PBs across all distances (5km to ultras). David has a wealth of experience and I have remained injury free since I have been with him. I've learnt to train smart, not hard.
Following a structured training program with Ann has made all the difference in my running and has helped me to improve my Comrades time by almost an hour and a half and earn a silver medal. As a full time working mother with limited time to train, having a plan to folow is one less thing to worry about. She adjusts the program when life happens and has helped me achieve goals I never imagined would be possible. Do this for you!
I started off with Ann struggling to break 4 hours in a marathon but since then I've never ran slower than that and improved my time to 3:29 and am now consistently running sub 5 hours at Two Oceans. Ann has tailor made a programme for me and has provided me with consistent guidance regarding strength training and nutrition. Most of all she kept me accountable and made the journey to races as enjoyable as the race itself.
I started coaching with Ann in November 2019 before Covid Lockdown. I was lucky enough to be introduced to her as part of Massmart Employee Initiative. I'd always followed Team Massmart (as bit of a fan if I must admit) but was "too old" to be a mentee. Fast forward a few years, and I can truly say age is just a number, since at age 44, not only have I achieved a marathon PB of 3:02, a Comrades PB on the down run of 7:17 (which I achieved less than 6 weeks prior to surgery from a broken collar bone). She has made me strong to a point that my easy runs are what people strive to do. She adapts to my 'working mom of 3 boys' lifestyle and brings the best out of me, with no "running / over-training" related injuries. She truly is a unicorn of coaching!
Since I have been on Ann's running program, I have seen remarkable improvements in my running performance. I have achieved personal best times in every running distance in races I have competed in, which I attribute to Ann's expertise and guidance. My favorite was running a marathon under 3 hours, something I had tried several times before and failed and 7:30 comrades marathon time. I believe that your best running starts when you meet the right coach therefore I am grateful for her guidance and support, and I look forward to continuing to work with her to achieve my future running goals.
I somehow managed to stumble across the perfect coach in February 2023. Ann has provided structure, patience, commitment and given me a chunk of confidence in my running. I have a huge amount of respect for her not only as a coach but also as a runner, woman, wife, and dog-mom - with a full-time job. I would highly recommend Team Ashworth for anybody who wants to be led a strong, powerful and successful woman who knows what she is doing!
I have been with Team Ashworth for almost two years now and in this time, I have come to trust David’s training plan and coaching. I have seen consistent progress and numerous personal bests under his coaching. What I really appreciate about David and his coaching style, is that he doesn’t just give you a training plan to follow, but structures it around not only your training goals and level of ability, but also a busy lifestyle and the many surprises that life throws at you. Having this training that is carefully considered and tailored to you makes it so much easier to put in the hard work every day and I never have to worry when I line up for a race, if I have done the correct and right amount of training to reach my goals. Not only is David extremely knowledgeable about running, but also so encouraging with constant check -ins and feedback. Even when I was struggling with injury during training for Comrades, David again adapted my training plan, incorporating swimming and cycling, to get me to the start strong and injury free.
